In the enchanting setting of the Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore , in the historic center of Naples, the mini-group exhibition "L'arte eterna" (Eternal Art) will open on Monday, June 14th at 11:00 a.m., featuring works by ten artists: Domenico Sepe, Francesco Cretella, Raffaele Canoro, Michelangelo Della Morte, Gianni Strino, Marcello Di Pierro, Antonio Gesualdi, Vittorio Valiante, Gianluigi Infante, and Ferdinando Sorgente. The exhibition, curated entirely by artistic director Ferdinando Sorrentino on behalf of the cultural association "Non me ne vado," will showcase classical painting in the evocative atmosphere of the monumental church.

In conjunction with the event, it will be possible to visit the basilica, including the Cappellone del Crocifisso 1689, the Cappellone di S. Lucia, the Cappella di San Raffaele, the sixteenth-century fresco of “The Madonna enthroned with Saint Peter and a donor”, ​​the Ravaschieri Chapel, the Baptism of Christ, the Busts of the Four Holy Bishops, the underlying Crypt of the Congregation of the LXVI Priests, the decorated ceiling of the oratory of the Congregation 1694. Closed for decades due to restoration work and archaeological investigations, the Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore, a precious testimony to the main historical-artistic periods of the city, was recently reopened to the public thanks to the Archbishop's Curia of Naples, the Superintendency of Fine Arts and Landscape for the Municipality and Province of Naples, and the Foundation of Engineers of Naples.
