Camaldoli dotted with illegal landfills

Illegal waste dumpers have no scruples and nothing can deter them from their wicked intentions.

Even green areas are not spared from their wicked actions, which, on the contrary, represent 'safe' places in which to dump even dangerous materials, far from prying eyes. It happens then that the hermitage of Camaldoli is dotted with illegal mini landfills.

The Soccavo detachment of the Italian Agroforestry Guard reported this and contacted the Regional Councillor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli:

“Councillor, we wanted to keep you informed of an issue that has been plaguing the Collina dei Camaldoli since this summer, the entrance located on the side of Via Contieri in Soccavo. We of the Guardia Agroforestale Italiana Soccavo detachment have reported via PEC to the competent bodies of the mini landfills on the path that leads to the hill.

Asbestos sheets, dozens of disused car tires, rubble of various kinds and mattresses, in addition to polluting, are also an obstacle to various scouting and runner associations that frequent a truly beautiful site, full of flora and fauna.”

“We have requested urgent clean-up interventions to defuse these ecological bombs,” Borrelli says. “However, it is of fundamental importance to implement prevention plans to save the territory from abuse and pollution. We need video traps and much more severe penalties for dumpers, especially when it comes to dangerous materials.”
