Dema, workers chained in front of Campania Region headquarters in Naples

Around two hundred workers from the Dema company chained themselves outside Palazzo Santa Lucia in Naples.

The protest is to ask for serious intervention by the president of the regional council, Vincenzo De Luca, regarding their dispute. Tomorrow the company, owned by a bank fund, will file an industrial plan in court and the workers fear the worst, given that redundancies and changes of ownership have already been announced in the factories in Campania and Puglia.

“At the last ministerial meeting, the company showed up with a series of verbal communications, nothing in writing but, above all, nothing reassuring,” says Antonio Filosa, Fiom RSU.

“At the moment it seems that he wants to sell the two factories in Puglia, while maintaining control of them, and downsize the ones in Campania and it seems incredible to us that in a growing sector like aeronautics, a reality like this should die”.

The company employs around 500 workers in Campania who are now asking for a clear intervention from the Region to ensure that "it is not always the South that is hit, especially when it comes to excellence"
