Roman businessman Luciano Viglietta hid Camorra fugitives

Luciano Viglietta, a 64-year-old entrepreneur from Rome, was hit by a seizure order for assets with a total value of approximately 20 million euros.

The Rome District Anti-Mafia Directorate believes that Viglietta's assets are the result of illicit activities, including usury, receiving stolen goods, fraud, forgery, bankruptcy, construction of unauthorized landfills, violation of seals and drug trafficking.

Furthermore, according to the Carabinieri, Viglietta allegedly facilitated the fugitive status of several members of the Polverino Camorra clan, providing them with refuge apartments in Pomezia and on the Roman coast.

Among the Camorra fugitives who allegedly benefited from the Viglietta “safe houses” were Giuseppe Ruggiero, Carlo Nappi, and Giuseppe Simioli.

The seizure of assets was ordered by the Rome Prosecutor's Office at the end of an investigation that reconstructed Viglietta's criminal profile and identified his considerable assets.

The investigation found that Viglietta had been committing crimes since 1996, both in connection with his business activities and independently.

All the fugitives to whom Viglietta provided support belong to the Polverino clan, active in the municipality of Marano in the province of Naples.

In 2012, Viglietta provided the clan with logistical support for the storage of 1500 kg of hashish.

Among the assets seized in Viglietta are four villas, an industrial complex, 144 buildings, various lands, 11 companies and 22 vehicles.
