A man in the Traiano district escapes house arrest and justifies himself by saying, "I was taking out the trash."

A 56-year-old man, originally from the Benevento area and resident on Via Giustiniano in the Traiano district, was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Naples Rione Traiano station for escaping house arrest.

The man, under house arrest serving a sentence issued by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office and the Surveillance Court, was not at his home at the time of the search.

It happened around 19:00 PM, during a routine check. The 56-year-old was caught outside the condominium gate, accompanied by a second 34-year-old man, originally from Naples and living in Pozzuoli. When stopped by the police, the man justified his presence outside by claiming he needed to take out the trash; an explanation that didn't hold up during the investigation that led to his arrest. He is currently awaiting trial.

House arrest had been imposed pursuant to a sentence handed down by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office and the Surveillance Court. The Carabinieri intervention occurred during a check to verify compliance with the measure.
