In Pompeii, 8-year-old girl bitten by two pitbulls
Pompeii. An 8-year-old girl suffered minor injuries after being mauled by two pit bulls in Pompeii last Saturday. The news was only released today.
The girl, who is in third grade, was cycling with a friend when one of the two pit bulls, usually locked in a courtyard , escaped after the gate was found open.
The dogs pounced on the two girls who fell off their bicycles and ran off in opposite directions.
The girl riding the bicycle was chased by one of the pitbulls, which bit her right arm as she attempted to shield her face. The second dog bit her buttock , while her friend hid.
The owners' intervention
The dog owner's mother intervened and, together with her son, managed to drive off the pit bulls and carry the injured child away. The dog owner then picked up the second pit bull that was chasing the woman and child and carried it away.
The entire scene was filmed by a security camera installed in the courtyard. The little girl was taken to the San Leonardo hospital in Castellammare di Stabia where she was treated and given a ten-day prognosis.
The girl's parents are asking that the dogs be removed to avoid further accidents.
