Wisteria has always been understood as a symbol of rebirth and transformation and the association with the Centro Direzionale of Naples is certainly evocative.
The latter is a place that, designed in the 80s, is experiencing a significant revival phase. With the opening of new stations on the metro line 1 and an ambitious redevelopment plan, a radical change in the area is expected.
An urban renewal process that aims to transform the City near the central station into a dynamic and modern hub that can attract entrepreneurial and cultural opportunities. The event “Liberty & Glicine: urban blooms” organized by the cultural associations Kaos 48 and Slow Foto and enriched by a photography contest that uses a jury composed of Sergio Siano, Marco Monteriso and Betty Colombo fits into this perspective.
Through photography and art, the initiative aims to “transfer” beauty and color to the Centro Direzionale, contrasting the urban grayness with the liveliness of wisteria and spring flowers. A creative way to involve the community and promote culture, while contributing to the revitalization of the area: in this case, the Vomero and Chiaia neighborhoods, portrayed in the works that participated in the contest, will ideally join the skyscrapers designed by Kenzo Tange.
Kaos 48 and Slow Foto will also use recycled paper to print the images, thus reducing the environmental impact and encouraging more eco-friendly practices. An approach that is in perfect harmony with the spirit of Save The Planet, which demonstrates how art can be a vehicle for promoting important values such as environmental protection.
The event will be presented on May 10th, at 18 pm, and will be followed by the awards ceremony for the photography competition, at the Creative Factory AreaLab 35 (via Giovanni Porzio 4). «“Liberty & Glicine: urban blooms” is a way to awaken consciences through art and photography in particular – explain Fabrizio Scomparin and Stefano Nasti, from Kaos 48 – an awakening that occurs in conjunction with the blossoming of spring. The event and the contest are therefore an invitation to reflect on who we are and where we live.
But also to reconsider the places and the city in their becoming, to relate to the re-blossoming of nature in its scents, colors, in the strength to regenerate. An atmosphere of rebirth that lives again in the forms of Art Nouveau art, which permeates many places in the city, transforms it and makes it even more beautiful. In perfect union with a luxuriant plant like wisteria. A flower that has distinguished Art Nouveau and its style evident in many gardens and buildings in Naples.
