"It was a wonderful tribute." With these words, Daniela Di Maggio, mother of Giovanbattista Cutolo, the young musician tragically killed in Naples last August, commented on the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti's performance at the G7 Culture Summit held in Pompeii. During the event, the orchestra, conducted by Maestro Beatrice Venezi, paid a touching tribute to the young talent, affectionately known as Giogiò.

The moving musical tribute deeply touched the mother, who wanted to share her experience. "After the concert ," Daniela Di Maggio said, " the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, wanted to speak to me personally. We had a wonderful conversation about the power of music and culture as tools to save young people from violence and build a better future."

Daniela Di Maggio emphasized the importance of educating young people through music, defining her life purpose as "arming children with musical instruments." Giovanbattista's mother emphasized the need to bring music, beauty, and culture into schools, starting in elementary school, to prevent violence and cultivate the talent of young children. In this regard, she expressed her support for Deborah Bergamini's bill to introduce classical and opera music into schools through the "Giovanbattista Cutolo Classical Opera Project ," an initiative aimed at honoring the memory of the young musician.

“The concept of a gun didn't exist in my son's soul. For him, there was only Bach, Bellini, and all classical music ,” Daniela stated, with an emotional but firm tone. The meeting with Minister Sangiuliano paved the way for future collaborations, with the goal of promoting the importance of music as an educational tool and in the prevention of violence. “We agreed to meet again so I could present my ideas ,” she concluded.
