Failed bank robbery in Qualiano: gang digs tunnel, employees hear noises and alert the police

Qualiano (Naples) – Attempted theft foiled at the headquarters of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena credit institute in Piazza Rosselli: yesterday morning, the bank employees alerted the carabinieri after hearing strange noises coming from the walls of the bathrooms.

Upon arriving on site, the military discovered a hole in the wall, presumably dug through the sewer system to access the bank's premises. The perpetrators of the attempted robbery, however, fled before completing the theft, and nothing was stolen.

Investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the criminal plan. The Carabinieri are also examining the footage from surveillance cameras in the area, which could provide useful information to reconstruct what happened and trace the perpetrators of the act. The episode created apprehension among residents and bank employees, but timely intervention prevented greater damage.
