Sal Da Vinci's Tricolor Suit Up for Auction: From Eurovision to CataWiki

From the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna to the online auction on Catawiki, the transformable dress designed by Barbara Pedrazzoli will be auctioned from September 25th to October 5th. The piece worn by Francesca Tocca during "Per sempre sì" was designed to reveal the Italian tricolor and will go to support the Domenico Caliendo Foundation, chosen by Sal Da Vinci.

Meanwhile, Sal Da Vinci's tour in Naples continues: three evenings at the Arena Flegrea from September 25th to 27th.

Technical details and processing phases

This is a one-of-a-kind dress, created by designer Barbara Pedrazzoli. The skirt is composed of approximately 33 meters of tulle distributed across 10-12 layers, weighing approximately 15 kilos. The bodice is entirely hand-embroidered, and nine days were dedicated to the creation of the top, with approximately eight hours per day. The skirt's opening, revealing the Italian flag, is made possible by hidden snap buttons and a tailoring process involving at least two people during assembly on stage.

The transformation takes just seconds, but it's the result of a mere month of craftsmanship and planning. According to the source, the dress is valued at at least €10.000, as reported in the press release; a subsequent description suggests a value of at least €20.000.

That dress became much more than just an element of our performance: it became part of the story of Per sempre sì and the memory of that night at Eurovision. Its elegance and visual power helped give even more meaning to the performance, but there's one image I'll always cherish: the moment the Italian flag appeared from her skirt.

It was our tribute to Italy, to its music, and to everything we were bringing to that stage. Eurovision is the Olympics of music, and seeing our Italian flag unfurl before that audience right there was a powerful emotion. In that moment, there wasn't just a song: there was our identity, our roots, and the pride of representing our country.

That gesture became one of the iconic moments of our performance and one of the most powerful images I have of that experience.

When Sal Da Vinci's team asked me to design the Eurovision dress, the challenge was to create something that would go beyond a simple stage costume and become part of the performance. The tricolor isn't applied to the dress: the dress itself transforms into the Italian flag.

Behind those few seconds on stage lies a month of work, 33 meters of tulle, an entirely hand-embroidered bodice, and above all, a highly complex tailoring process, as the mechanism had to function perfectly during the choreography. Seeing it come to life on the Vienna stage was thrilling: that dress embodies my understanding of Made in Italy, built on creativity, craftsmanship, and the ability to surprise," says designer Barbara Pedrazzoli, the dress's creator.
