Naples – The motive for the shooting of Antonio Lucenti, 22, in Piscinola yesterday evening is still unclear. The young man, already known to law enforcement, was rescued and rushed to the CTO hospital, where he received medical attention. His condition was initially described as critical, but his life is not believed to be in danger.

This incident once again brings the sound of guns to the northern area of ​​Naples, an area that has seen a series of injuries, armed raids, and intimidations in recent weeks. But, at least for now, investigators are avoiding automatic connections: each incident is being examined individually, searching for concrete evidence that could indicate any common motives.

The 22-year-old's version: "I was shot during a robbery."

The first account gathered by investigators came from the injured man himself. Lucenti reported being hit by bullets after resisting an attempted robbery.

This version is being verified step by step by the Carabinieri. The officers first responded to the hospital to gather initial information and then reached Via Nuova Dietro la Vigna, identified as the location where the injury occurred.

The scene was thoroughly combed for spent shell casings, blood traces, and other evidence useful for reconstructing the incident. The number of shots fired, the position of the victim, and that of any attackers will be crucial to determining whether the 22-year-old's account is objectively supported.

Cameras and phone under scrutiny

The investigation isn't limited to surveys of the asphalt. Investigators are also looking for any images recorded by public and private video surveillance systems in the area.

The goal is to reconstruct Lucenti's last movements and determine whether anyone followed or approached him before the shooting. The cameras could also help identify any scooters or cars that passed through the area in the minutes immediately before and after the shooting.

Another investigative front involves the young man's cell phone. Analyzing phone traffic and chats could allow investigators to reconstruct contacts, appointments, and conversations prior to the injury, determining whether there are any elements linked to a robbery or to personal or criminal matters.
This type of investigation could be particularly important if previous contacts or conflicts with other people were to emerge.

The robbery trail and the ambush trail

Investigators are therefore left with two different scenarios. The first is the one indicated by Lucenti himself: a robbery gone horribly wrong, during which the criminals opened fire after the victim reacted.

Secondigliano, another man was shot a few days ago

The new episode comes after a close sequence of bloody events in the northern area.
On September 10, in Secondigliano, a 36-year-old man, Cristiano Basile, was shot in the leg while standing outside a bar on Via Napoli-Roma, near Scampia. In that case, too, the victim reported to police that he had been robbed by two people and that he had been shot after resisting. The circumstances and motive are being investigated by investigators.

And this isn't the only recent incident in the same area. In the hours preceding the incident, also in the Secondigliano area, a 19-year-old had been shot on Via Don Pino Puglisi. The young man, according to reports, was with some friends when two people on a scooter approached and one of them fired. The bullet grazed him in the chest. Again, the young man stated that he didn't know the attacker and didn't know why he had been targeted.

Two incidents that occurred in close proximity, now joined by that of Piscinola. But above all, two dynamics that remain unclear, for which investigators have not publicly identified a connection.

In Miano, four shells after a new laying

A few days earlier, on September 6th, the Carabinieri had also responded to a report of gunshots in the San Gaetano neighborhood of Miano. Four spent 9mm shell casings were found at the scene, but no injuries or damage were reported. An investigation was launched to determine who fired the shots and the motive for the shooting.
This detail illustrates the extent of the tension in the area: the gunfire doesn't always result in casualties, but the presence of spent shell casings on the asphalt nonetheless points to the use of weapons as a tool for intimidation or conflict resolution, even if the exact cause of each individual incident remains to be ascertained.

A trail that crosses Miano, Secondigliano, Scampia and Piscinola

This is the context in which Antonio Lucenti's wounding occurred. Over the course of a few months, the area between Miano, Secondigliano, Scampia, and Piscinola, along with the surrounding areas, has been affected by incidents varying in their dynamics and possible motives: murders, shootings, roadside assaults, injuries during alleged robberies, and assaults still shrouded in mystery.

Furthermore, in March, in Miano, two young men aged 20 and 25, both from Secondigliano, arrived at the CTO with gunshot wounds after telling police they had been chased and robbed of their watch. In that case, too, the investigative report was verified, and several shell casings were recovered at the scene.

The common thread among many of these incidents is, once again, the difficulty of immediately reconstructing the true cause of the injuries. Victims often report robberies or assaults, while investigators simultaneously investigate possible personal, criminal, or conflict-related motives within petty crime circles.

And that's exactly what's happening now in Piscinola.

The answer lies in the images and in the wounded man's final hours. To understand what really happened on Via Nuova Dietro la Vigna, it will be necessary to reconstruct the final hours of Lucenti's life: where he was, who he had contact with, what movements he had made, and who, if any, he had encountered before the shooting.
The security camera footage could provide the first external corroboration of his story. The phone could also provide investigators with a network of personal relationships and recent contacts.
Only after these investigations will it be possible to establish whether Piscinola's was truly a robbery that ended in bloodshed or an ambush with a specific target.
