Calalogno Murder: The Anti-Mafia Department frames Luongo-Covone-Aloia clan supporters.

Scisciano/Castello di Cisterna — An efficient safety net, capable of offering immediate shelter and cover after the bloodshed on the streets. This is the criminal plot reconstructed by the Carabinieri of the Castello di Cisterna Investigative Unit, who, at dawn this morning, served a pre-trial detention order against two individuals believed to be the backbone of the gang's logistics.

The order, issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Office and agreed upon with the District Attorney, puts an end to the complicity that emerged in the aftermath of the brutal Camorra ambush in which Ottavio Colalongo lost his life.

The December ambush and the orchestrated escape

To understand the genesis of today's operation, we need to go back to December 17, 2025. That day, in Scisciano, Camorra fire killed Ottavio Colalongo in a clearly mafia-related raid. Immediately after the execution, while law enforcement was cordoning off the crime scene and conducting initial forensic investigations, the fugitive movement began to take hold.

According to the investigative findings endorsed by the DDA, the two arrested men immediately made themselves available to one of the perpetrators of the crime. The goal was twofold: to allow him to disappear into thin air to evade immediate investigations and, at the same time, to avoid the execution of a prison warrant already pending against him due to past definitive convictions.

The accusations and the mafia aggravating circumstance

The evidence against the two arrested individuals is considered extremely serious. The charges against them include aiding and abetting and procuring evasion of sentence, both aggravated by Article 416-bis.1 of the Criminal Code: that is, they acted solely to facilitate the operations of the Luongo-Covone-Aloia criminal gang, an association active in the Nola area and surrounding municipalities.

The forced assistance, the discovery of the hideouts, and the IT and logistical coverage provided to the fugitive would not have been mere personal favors, but rather a specific corporate mandate from the gang to protect its top management and operatives.

The operation conducted by the Carabinieri represents an important step in the anti-Mafia investigation launched by the Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office against the clans in the Neapolitan hinterland. It should be noted, however, as emphasized by the judicial authorities themselves, that the precautionary measure taken is part of the preliminary investigation phase. The suspects, against whom the usual appeal procedures are available, are presumed innocent until a final conviction is handed down.
