In Naples on March 28th two films from the Indian Film Festival on Tour

The Indian Film Festival's tour of Italy reaches its final stop after visiting several cities across the country. Organized and promoted by the Indian Embassy in Rome, the event brought to the big screen a selection of films representing India's linguistic and cultural diversity, shown to Italian audiences for the first time.

The initiative kicked off in Rome, where the inaugural screenings took place between February 7 and 11, including films beyond the traditional Bollywood production, presenting them in languages ​​such as Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.

Final stop in Naples

After stops in Bressanone and Caserta, the tour ends at the Multicinema Modernissimo in Naples on March 28. Two special screenings are planned here, one in the morning dedicated to university students and one in the afternoon open to the public. “Kantara” and “Gangubai Kathiawadi” will be screened. At 10:00 am, students will be able to watch “Kantara” (2022), a film by Rishab Shetty that explores the complex relationship between man and nature in a rural village threatened by government interests. The film stars and directs Shetty and offers a unique perspective on local traditions and the internal conflicts of the protagonist, Shiva.

Closing film

At 16:00 pm it will be the turn of “Gangubai Kathiawadi” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Premiered in 2022 at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, the film tells the story of Gangubai Kothewali, a prominent figure in the 60s Kamathipura underworld. The festival is supported by the Indian Embassy in Rome in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Government of India and the NFDC – National Film Development Corporation of India. All films are screened in their original language, with Italian and English subtitles.
