Amalfi, foreign hikers missing in the Valle delle Ferriere: rescued and saved by an inter-force team

Misadventure with a happy ending last night in the Valle delle Ferriere, in the Pogerola area, a hamlet of the municipality of Amalfi, where a couple of foreign hikers were injured and missing during a walk in the mountains.

The two had lost their bearings, slipping in an impervious area. The alarm was raised with the activation of the Campania Alpine and Speleological Rescue (CNSAS), which operated in synergy with the military of the Alpine Rescue Station of the Guardia di Finanza of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, the Fire Brigade, the Civil Protection "Millenium" and the personnel of 118 with helicopter rescue.

The woman's condition immediately appeared critical: she suffered a head injury, a fractured femur and right arm. After being stabilized and "stretched out", she was carried on the shoulders along the path to the winch point for the subsequent transfer by helicopter to the "Castiglione" hospital in Ravello.

The operation once again highlighted the high level of training and professionalism of the SAGF teams, specialized in rescue operations in mountainous and high-risk environments.
