Gragnano – Almost three months of investigations to reconstruct the nighttime ambush against a young woman in Casola di Napoli.
Today the Carabinieri of the Gragnano station executed a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP of Torre Annunziata, at the request of the Oplonti Prosecutor's Office, against a 30-year-old Neapolitan accused of attempted aggravated robbery.
The episode dates back to March 15, when the man, with his face covered by a hood, allegedly blocked the victim's car in an isolated place, taking advantage of the night time.
After blocking the car with his own, he allegedly attempted to steal the bag and money inside, banging his fists on the windshield and threatening to kill the woman.
The young woman's prompt reaction, however, prevented him from carrying out the robbery: the victim managed to escape, raising the alarm.
The images from the cameras were decisive
The investigations, coordinated by the Oplontina Prosecutor's Office, were based on the images of the video surveillance systems of the area and on the detailed complaint presented by the woman. The evidence collected allowed to identify and track down the alleged robber, already known to the police.
The 30-year-old was held in the barracks and later transferred to Poggioreale prison, where he will serve pre-trial detention.

What happened in Casola di Napoli is a very serious fact. The woman had courage to react, but it is worrying that there are still people capable of committing similar acts of violence in the middle of the night. The police must do more.
