Napoli – The National Archaeological Museum of Napoli (MANN) has reopened to the public the historic fountains of its evocative Oriental Garden, returning to the city a space where art, history and nature blend in a harmonious dialogue.
The restoration project was made possible thanks to a generous donation from Acqua Campania SpA (Nepta – Italgas Group), through the Art Bonus tool.
In the green heart of the MANN, the three fountains have returned to gush, restoring liveliness to an area designed for pause and reflection. “The gardens are also fully part of our idea of a museum,” commented the General Director of Museums, Massimo Osanna. “They are spaces for meeting and stopping, capable of offering a different, more intimate time, in dialogue with beauty. This restoration restores not only the functionality of the fountains, but also the profound sense of a place designed to be lived. I thank Acqua Campania, the Advisory Board and all the professionals of the Museum who made this intervention possible.”
The intervention is not only technical, but reflects a renewed vision of the museum as a place of well-being, hospitality and relationship with the public.
The success of the restoration is the result of a synergy between the public and private sectors. “The donation of Acqua Campania is the result of the work of the Advisory Board, which I have chaired for years with the aim of protecting and enhancing the heritage of the Museum”, commented the President of the Advisory Board of the MANN, Mirella Barracco.
Barracco thanked the former director Paolo Giulierini, who initiated the project, and the current director Massimo Osanna, with whom the works were concluded, underlining the importance of promoting the culture of greenery and sustainability also in museum institutions.
Marco Lombardi, CEO of Acqua Campania, expressed his pride in the contribution made to the enhancement of such a symbolic place. “As a local company, Acqua Campania is strongly committed to creating value for communities, not only through efficient management of water resources, but also through initiatives that combine social responsibility and protection of historical and cultural heritage.
In this sense, restoring functionality to historic fountains means not only preserving their memory, but also restoring beauty and therefore well-being to communities."
The restoration of the fountains of the Oriental Garden represents a further step in the valorization of the Neapolitan cultural heritage, for the benefit of citizens and visitors.
