CAserta – Moments of terror and a dramatic arrest this morning in the Caserta area. Carabinieri from the Gricignano di Aversa and Sant'Arpino stations arrested a 44-year-old man from Caivano, already known to law enforcement and under obligation to report to the judicial police for specific crimes. The man is charged with aggravated robbery and receiving stolen goods.

The dynamics of the events, detailed in a statement from the Carabinieri, are incredible. The 44-year-old, aboard a gray Fiat Panda with stolen license plates, while traveling on the Succivo-Marcianise provincial road, disguised himself with a balaclava and, armed with a replica pistol without the red cap, threatened a 44-year-old woman from Gricignano with AversaAt gunpoint, the woman was forced to hand over a gold ring and necklace.

The escape, the crash and the arrest

Immediately after committing the robbery, the man attempted to flee. However, during the drive, his Fiat Panda collided violently with another car, causing it to veer off the road. Trapped in the wreckage of the crashed vehicle, the robber was quickly freed and arrested by the Carabinieri, who responded to the scene following the alarm.

The three occupants of the other vehicle involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and were transported to the emergency room at Aversa Hospital. The arrested man, who was in pain from the impact, also received medical treatment for minor injuries before being taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.

The stolen goods, recovered immediately, were returned to their rightful owner, while the gun and balaclava used in the robbery were seized.

The Carabinieri are currently conducting further investigations. Law enforcement suspects that the arrested 44-year-old may be the perpetrator of other robberies committed in recent months in the province of Caserta, using the same gray Fiat Panda. Investigations are continuing to verify these hypotheses and determine any possible connections to other criminal incidents.
