Pozzuoli - He's six years old and possesses a quiet strength that refuses to give up despite obstacles. Francesco Pio lives in Pozzuoli, in a first-floor apartment in a building without a walk-up. For him, who can't walk due to cerebral palsy, every day is a challenge.
Every outing is a small undertaking: going down the stairs with the stroller, carrying the baby, organizing time and space. A ritual repeated several times a day, in the sun, rain, or cold.
The family, consisting of father Angelo and mother Ivana, lives a life of sacrifice with dignity. Angelo works Monday to Saturday, from six in the morning to six in the evening. Ivana quit her job to devote herself full-time to her son. But their car isn't equipped. The wheelchair has to be dismantled and reassembled for every trip, with effort and risk. A task that wears down both body and spirit.
Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a member of parliament for the Green and Left Alliance, responded to Ivana's mother's appeal by relaunching the online fundraiser and personally visiting the little boy's home in recent days, along with Titti Zazzaro, a member of the regional executive of Europa Verde.
"It's not a whim, but a matter of dignity," Borrelli explained. "It's a child's right to move around safely, without turning every journey into a test of strength. A community is measured by how well it cares for its most vulnerable. Francesco Pio must not feel alone."
The fundraiser's goal is to purchase a vehicle with a ramp that allows passengers to board without removing their wheelchair. This represents a crucial step forward for the entire family's independence and quality of life. "Everyone can do their part," the MP added, "even with a small donation or simply by sharing the appeal. Let's help Francesco Pio navigate a less burdensome daily routine, a freer life."
