The Diego Armando Maradona Stadium closes its doors to Cremonese fans. Ahead of the 2025/2026 Serie A match, scheduled for Friday, April 24, the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has banned ticket sales for all residents of the province of Cremona. This decision freezes away attendance in the Campania capital, limiting access to the Fuorigrotta stadium to only Azzurri supporters or residents of other geographical areas.
The measure isn't unexpected, but follows the rigorous process of the Committee for the Analysis of the Safety of Sports Events (CASMS), which already issued a red light regarding the match's risk profile at its April 15 meeting. The proposal, formalized by the Naples Police Headquarters and accepted by the Prefecture, is based on public order and safety assessments that recommended eliminating the risk of potential contact between fans.
"The measure was adopted following the findings of the Analysis Committee and the corresponding proposal from the Naples Police Headquarters, which highlighted high-risk profiles," city authorities explained. This is a standard preventative measure for matches deemed "hot" by the Observatory, aimed at preventing tensions outside the stadium from escalating into incidents by ensuring smooth checks at the entrances and within the perimeter of the Arena Flegrea.
The organizational machinery for Friday evening is already in motion to secure the entrances and prevent banned fans from attempting to circumvent the restrictions. For Antonio Conte's Napoli, the match against the Grisorossi will represent a crucial turning point in the championship, but the atmosphere in the stands—albeit tense—will inevitably be affected by the absence of the away section, a symbol of a football that, in 2026, is still forced to resort to bans to ensure public safety.
