In the photo, a detail of the story.
The state's grip is tightening once again on the environmental crimes plaguing the Land of Fires, deploying a massive force of men and high-tech. As part of a dedicated joint project and the national operation "Safe Roads," officers from the Naples Metropolitan Police conducted a massive environmental control and inspection operation at a vast industrial complex located in Villa Literno, known as the Polo Nautico. Law enforcement raided an area spanning approximately thirty thousand square meters, divided into two colossal buildings with industrial warehouses housing several companies operating in the nautical sector, specializing in upholstery, carpentry, complex fiberglass work, and actual vessel construction.
The field operations, personally directed by the Commander of the Naples Metropolitan Police, Lucia Rea, and the technical officials of the Environmental Area, were conducted in close strategic synergy with the specialized personnel of the Campania Group of the Italian Army, led by Colonel Andrea Crivellotto. The operation was jointly planned down to the smallest detail and constantly monitored through the advanced use of visual intelligence assets, including specialized drones in flight, which allowed for precise aerial surveillance from above of the entire area under judicial investigation before and during the patrol raid.
During the meticulous inspections of each warehouse, investigators discovered serious violations of the strict regulations protecting the ecosystem. The charges include the continuous discharge of industrial wastewater in the complete absence of the required permits, the illegal disposal of hazardous special waste, and serious violations regarding harmful atmospheric emissions. Approximately twenty individuals, including business owners and management managers, were formally charged with these crimes during the raid. The suspects were also accused of improperly maintaining the mandatory waste loading and unloading register. The full findings of the environmental investigation will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Naples North for subsequent criminal proceedings.
