Positano: Carabinieri raid the town hall, investigating the Guida administration.

Positano – A parade of blue cars parked in front of the Town Hall early this morning shattered the tranquility of the Amalfi Coast's pearl. At dawn today, Thursday, June 18, 2026, the Carabinieri of the Salerno Investigative Unit conducted a raid on the Positano Town Hall offices.

The military, who acted on specific orders from the Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office , acquired a massive amount of administrative documentation and files relating to the management activities of the previous political mandate, then led by former mayor Giuseppe Guida.

Past contracts under scrutiny

At this time, investigators are maintaining the utmost confidentiality, and the alleged crimes or any suspects have not yet been disclosed. However, according to reports, the investigation is aimed at shedding light on the previous administration's management practices. The magistrates intend to determine whether there were any influences or anomalies in the awarding of various public works.

The suspicion, in particular, is that the principle of contract rotation was violated to favor a small and specific cartel of local businesses. The searches and checks, moreover, did not stop in Positano but also affected several neighboring areas.

The political factor and post-vote poisons

The police intervention comes at a politically delicate moment, just weeks before the local elections of May 24 and 25, which saw the clear victory of the new mayor, Gabriella Guida.

A significant detail, which casts a strong political light on the matter: the current mayor, during the final year of her previous term, had led the minority from the opposition benches, repeatedly raising harsh and public criticisms about the transparency and administrative management of the institution, which has now found itself in the crosshairs of the judiciary.
