An overnight raid on the "Quattro Giornate" primary school in Naples' Gianturco neighborhood took place. Unknown suspects forced open the school's front door and entered the premises, stealing electronic teaching materials and various devices used for school activities.
The loot included printers, photocopiers, and multimedia whiteboards, equipment intended for students and school staff. Officers from the Poggioreale police station are currently investigating the theft, trying to reconstruct the events of the raid and identify those responsible.
The incident rekindles the spotlight on security in the area. On the night of September 10th, another theft occurred nearby, at the headquarters of the Fourth Municipality of Naples on Via Gianturco.
In that case, unknown individuals had forced open the safe using a blowtorch and stolen over €8, ransacking the offices. The discovery was made in the early hours of the morning, when cleaning staff found the premises damaged and raised the alarm.
Luigi Musto, president of the Youth and Labor Policies Commission, also commented on the raid at the "Quattro Giornate" event, calling the incident a particularly serious incident.
"The raid on the 'Quattro Giornate' primary school in the Luzzatti district is a very serious and deplorable act that demands everyone take responsibility."
Musto also highlighted the work done in the area and called for stronger prevention measures. "We've been working with the municipality for some time on monitoring and prevention in the neighborhood," Musto added, "but clearly it's not enough. This isn't the first time incidents like this have occurred."
Hence the call for institutional intervention. "The Prefect's intervention is needed," Musto urges, "so that all necessary measures are implemented to prevent the recurrence of acts of vandalism, illegality, and crime, which penalize the growth of the area."
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the school theft, while it remains unclear whether the raid could be connected to other recent incidents in the same area.
