Aversa, break-in on Via Roma: 46-year-old man flees with cash in hand, arrested

Aversa – A lightning-fast attack at dawn, a smashed window, and then a desperate escape down the street, still clutching the loot: the entire cash register, which had just been ripped from the business. However, after just a few meters and a brief chase, the escape of a 46-year-old man from Caserta, already known to law enforcement, ended. He was arrested this morning by the Carabinieri of the Aversa Company's Operational and Radiomobile Unit.

It all happened in the early hours of the morning in the heart of the city. A Carabinieri patrol, engaged in routine patrols to combat predatory crime, was patrolling the area near Pozzi Park when they spotted the man.

At the sight of the officers, the 46-year-old showed obvious nervousness and attempted to flee on foot, immediately arousing the officers' suspicions both because of his sudden reaction and because of the bulky object he was trying to keep hidden in his hands.

The intervention was immediate: the Carabinieri began chasing the fugitive, stopping him and securing him within moments.

Subsequent investigations allowed the reconstruction of the incident, which had occurred only a few minutes earlier. The man had entered a business on Via Roma using the so-called "break-in method": after violently smashing the shop window, he quickly entered the store, grabbed the cash register, and then fled.

The timely raid by the Carabinieri prevented the criminal from disappearing. The cash register was recovered and seized, pending its return to its rightful owner following the completion of the usual formalities.

The man was arrested on charges of aggravated theft and handed over to the judicial authorities. As is customary, he is presumed innocent until convicted.
