Salerno – The Guardia di Finanza's offensive against the drug trafficking network operating in the Salerno port continues unabated. In the last few hours, the Guardia di Finanza, acting on behalf of the Salerno District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), executed a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge against two alleged drug dealers, charged with various counts of purchasing and receiving narcotics destined for the local market.
The operation represents the second chapter of a larger and more complex investigation aimed at disrupting a fierce criminal organization dedicated to importing huge quantities of drugs directly from South America.
Today's arrests consolidate the investigative framework that emerged on May 26, when the first tranche of precautionary measures was triggered for the crimes of conspiracy for the purpose of international drug trafficking and property crimes.
At the heart of the criminal infiltration is the port of Salerno, used as an entry hub for cargo arriving by sea from the Atlantic. During the investigation, investigators have so far intercepted and seized over 180 kilograms of ultra-pure cocaine transited through the Neapolitan port.
