Torre Annunziata – Couriers from Castellammare di Stabia and Torre Annunziata to supply customers on the Sorrento Peninsula and Massa Lubrense.

Six people are under investigation in the investigation, which this morning led to the notification of a precautionary custody order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court. The Torre Annunziata Group of Finance Police arrested four people, who were placed under house arrest, and ordered a fifth person to remain in residence. A sixth person was ordered to report to the judicial police. All are under investigation for the crime of illegal possession and supply of narcotics. The Torre Annunziata preliminary investigations judge has declared himself incompetent for two other people.

The investigation stems from the arrest, in flagrante delicto, of two individuals from Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia, respectively, carried out in August 2021 by the Guardia di Finanza of Massa Lubrense. The two arrested were found in possession of 20 doses of cocaine and €1.600 in cash while heading to Sorrento to sell the drugs.

During the investigation, it was discovered that, together with other people, the two had made over 300 deliveries of narcotics, mostly cocaine and marijuana, to numerous employees, most of whom worked in the tourism sector: hotels, charter companies, and restaurants.

A very thriving sector in the summer due to the presence of numerous tourists and VIPs. It cannot be ruled out that drugs were subsequently consumed in those very environments. A total of eight suspects were questioned in the preliminary phase, and the investigating judge ordered house arrest for four of them, a fifth suspect ordered to remain in their municipality of residence, and a sixth suspect required to report to the police. He also declared territorial jurisdiction over two other suspects.

The criminal proceedings are pending in the preliminary investigation phase and, by virtue of the constitutional principle of presumption of innocence, the suspects cannot be considered guilty until a final conviction has been issued.
