Illegal landfills in Poggiomarino: Borrelli (AVS) calls for immediate cleanups and video traps.

Poggiomarino - The number of reports of littering in the Campania countryside continues to grow. The latest report, supported by photographs, concerns Via Vecchia Aquini in Poggiomarino, between the intersection with Via Fornillo and I Passanti.

Piles of unsorted garbage, plastic bags, textile scraps, construction materials, cement bags, and even a baby crib have accumulated along the roadside and in the fields. The area has become an open-air landfill, exposed to the constant risk of toxic fires. Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green and Left Alliance and vice president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Eco-Mafias, forwarded the report to the competent authorities.

"We are faced with yet another environmental disaster affecting our countryside," he declared. "It is unacceptable that entire stretches of road are systematically used as dumping grounds by uncivilized people and environmental criminals, often with the direction or support of local eco-mafias." Borrelli called for immediate cleanup of the area and the installation of video traps to identify and punish those responsible. "Chasing an emergency isn't enough," he added.

"We need to implement local prevention measures and strengthen the judiciary and law enforcement agencies dedicated to combating environmental crimes. Today, too many crimes risk becoming statute-barred due to a lack of resources, leaving environmental criminals unpunished, to the detriment of public health."
