Mafia boss Troncone's brother-in-law arrested
Naples – "I'll burn you in acid, I'll kill you and them too if I want, because I'm in charge here." And again: "I'll slit your throat, I'm the one in charge, I'll shoot you." Brutal, explicit threats, uttered with the self-assurance of someone who feels like the absolute master of the neighborhood.
On charges of stalking, assault, threats, and robbery—all crimes aggravated by mafia methods—the Carabinieri of the Naples Bagnoli Operations Unit arrested 47-year-old Luca Troncone. He is a prominent figure in the area's criminal dynamics: he is the brother-in-law of boss Vitale Troncone, the historic Fuorigrotta clan leader currently serving a prison sentence under the 41bis regime.
Behind the blind violence that led to the arrest were not drug dealing or extortion, but rather an obsessive control over the private lives of the neighborhood residents. The victim, a man with no criminal record, was accused of having a casual relationship with a woman linked to a high-ranking member of the Troncone clan. This "affront" was punishable by immediate expulsion, according to the local Camorra's codes of honor.
The man's nightmare began in 2023 and continued unabated until April of last year. A long period marked by repeated physical attacks and constant death threats, all aimed at a single goal: to force the man, with no criminal record, to leave Fuorigrotta permanently.
The escalation of violence first reached its peak outside a well-known nightclub in
Varcaturo, on the Giugliano coast, where the victim was savagely beaten. Shortly thereafter, a second similar raid occurred: on that occasion, Troncone robbed the man of his motorcycle helmet, a symbolic and intimidating gesture that triggered panic. Terrified and left unprotected, the man was forced to flee Italy, taking refuge in France for two weeks to save his skin.
The Carabinieri, coordinated by magistrates from the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), brought the matter to a close. Investigators meticulously reconstructed the three-year persecution by cross-referencing the detailed accounts of witnesses present at the raids with images from video surveillance systems installed in the areas of past ambushes. These hardened frames transformed the charges into a pre-trial detention order, putting an end to the mafia stalking.
Last May, he was arrested by police after attempting to rob a cosmetics shop on Viale Augusto in Fuorigrotta. After being discovered by a security guard, he attacked and beat him. He also attempted to escape, but was caught by officers from the San Paolo police station and arrested. He was at large awaiting trial.
