The arrest of the Carabinieri
In Agerola, in the Amalfi Coast hinterland, Carabinieri officers from the local station arrested a 20-year-old for attempted fraud. The man, Rosario Eduardo Darlyn Alejandro, born in the Dominican Republic, residing in Naples, and already known to law enforcement, allegedly attempted to carry out a so-called "fake robbery scam" against a 65-year-old man.
The police intervened after the 112 emergency call. According to the reconstruction, a fake marshal had contacted the victim by phone to convince her to hand over jewelry and valuables, citing an imminent risk of robbery. Neither the man nor his nephew believed the story: they alerted the Carabinieri and cooperated with the investigation.
The officers waited for the young man while he was still in contact with the victim on the phone. When the 20-year-old entered the home to steal the jewelry, he was stopped and arrested red-handed. The investigation is continuing to determine whether he had any accomplices.
