Arzano: Local police raid vacated the apartment illegally occupied by one of the Monfregolo gangsters.

Arzano – Yesterday, with the intervention of local police, the clearing of furnishings and furniture from the second floor of one of the buildings at 167 Via Colombo took place. The situation had dragged on for months, with a family, the rightful assignees, afraid even to approach the front door.

According to rumors, the clan members, riding motorcycles and masked by helmets, allegedly ordered the tenant to desist from entering the apartment, most likely to let it be occupied by some high-ranking member at large. The rooms were adorned with marble and majolica tiles, as only Camorra members dare.

The incident immediately attracted the attention of the men coordinated by Commander Luigi Maiello, who managed to free the apartment within a few months.

The precedent of the Monfregolo family

Just a few years ago, another high-profile forced eviction was quietly underway: that of Luisa Grassini, the mother of the bosses who was placed under house arrest on April 25, 2022, during the Carabinieri raid in Castello di Cisterna that resulted in the arrest of 29 members of the Arzano secessionist wing linked to the Amato-Pagano family.

That operation, in addition to ending the war that had bloodied the municipalities north of Naples, wiped out the entire Monfregolo family. The eviction also affected Grassini's niece, an unauthorized occupant of an apartment in the Acer Campania building, also in the Via Colombo neighborhood. Her niece is believed to be linked to Raffaele Piscopo, who was detained along with Mariano Monfregolo, also for threatening the former police commander, Biagio Chiariello, who was convicted of demolishing dozens of squatters.

Investigations into illegal occupations

The investigations that led to the discovery of unauthorized squatting and the construction of actual villas in the urban area's porticoes by relatives and members of the clan began with detailed reports from local journalists and subsequent in-depth investigations by the local police. Grassini, among other things, had been squatting without a permit since the 80s.

The feud between Cristiano and Monfregolo

Apartments that before the feud that broke out between the Cristianos (now collaborators of justice) and the Monfregolos, which resulted in murders and shootings, were occupied by the Cristiano cartel "chased" to the nearby municipalities of Frattamaggiore and Frattaminore after the criminal collapse that culminated with the murder of Salvatore Petrillo, Cristiano's cousin, killed in a bar in Arzano in via Silone, which also involved the involvement of 4 other injured, two of whom had no criminal record.

Housing monitoring

Painstaking intelligence work, including a census and the simultaneous launch of investigations to monitor illegally occupied homes, also led to the eviction of the wife of the boss Monfregolo, who was being held in Nuoro prison.
