Scampia: A warning to the Abbinante clan: the fugitive's building was riddled with bullets.
NAPLES. - A new armed attack is shaking the area north of Naples. Criminal tensions have reignited along the heated border between Secondigliano and Scampia, marked by an intimidating incident the evening before yesterday. Around 9:00 PM, unknown assailants opened fire on the building on Traversa Ippolito, where Patrizio Sergio lives.
The man is currently in hiding: he escaped from house arrest after receiving a heavy sentence on appeal for Camorra association linked to the Abbinante clan.
The alarm brought officers from the Police Headquarters' General Prevention Office and Forensic Police personnel to the scene. During their inspection, investigators found and seized four 7,65 caliber shell casings on the asphalt.
The dynamics take on the characteristics of a real demonstration: the perpetrators likely knew that the alleged target could not be at home due to his fugitive status.
Although barely visible in mainstream news, Patrizio Sergio, as Il Roma reports, is a face widely identified by local police stations and investigators from the Naples Flying Squad. His name resurfaced at the end of January, during the trial against members of the Abbinante group, accused of various charges of Camorra, drug trafficking, and extortion.
The Court of Appeal had handed down twenty-seven sentences totaling over two hundred and seventy years of imprisonment, granting mitigating circumstances to nineteen defendants but shielding the most severe sentences for senior figures.
Among the confirmed twenty-year prison sentences are those against scion Arcangelo Abbinante, Alessio Cuomo, and Sergio himself. The original investigation, initiated thanks to two electronic eyes on Via Monte Rosa, had reconstructed the clan's structure through wiretaps, shadowing, and the statements of collaborators with justice Luigi Rignante and Giuseppe Ambra.
The four shots fired into Ippolito's street could therefore represent an internal settling of scores or a signal sent to the family to tighten the circle around the fugitive.
