Naples, ambush at Case Nuove: boss Emanuele Pistone seriously injured

Naples – Lead is once again laying down the law in the alleys of Case Nuove. A full-blown ambush, committed just minutes before 10:00 PM, has plunged the eastern area and the borders of the Mercato district once again into the nightmare of a new Camorra feud.

The man targeted by a hit squad was Emanuele Pistone, a thirty-year-old considered by investigators to be a prominent figure in the local drug trafficking scene.

The trap was sprung at the intersection of Via Antonio Toscano and Via Luigi Serio. The hitmen, who moved with surgical speed, surprised the thirty-year-old by firing at least four gunshots at him. It was a veritable punitive raid: the bullets struck Pistone in the legs, shoulder, and buttock, seriously wounding him.

The drug lord, with ties to the Del Re brothers, was rushed to the emergency room at Pellegrini Hospital. Doctors stabilized him and during the night he underwent delicate life-saving surgery. His condition remains critical, but his survival now raises serious questions on the investigative front.

Cars and specialists from the Naples Flying Squad immediately converged on the scene, supported by officers from the Vicaria-Mercato police station. Investigators have already thoroughly combed the area, acquiring footage from public and private surveillance cameras that may have captured the commando's escape.

The Via Medina offices have been set to red alert. The real fear is that this ambush is not an isolated incident, but rather the spark poised to reignite a vicious clan war for control of the drug dealing hubs. The criminal landscape of the area remains volatile: the area has historically been the site of conflicting interests between the Mazzarella-Caldarelli-Papi cartel on one side, and the gangs linked to the Mariglianos and the survivors of the alliance with the Continis on the other.

Investigators' spotlights are now on the new recruits determined to redraw the boundaries of organized crime in the heart of Naples.
