Ischia – Drug dealing doesn't stop at beach umbrellas and the presence of families and children. And in Ischia, the Carabinieri are also choosing "green" vehicles to hunt down pushers in the most crowded and hard-to-reach areas.

It happened on San Pietro beach, one of the busiest areas of the island, where officers from the local station caught a 36-year-old Neapolitan man, originally from the port area, under an umbrella with a group of young men.

The Carabinieri arrived on the back of their electric Vespas, managing to quickly reach the area and intervene without giving the young man time to react.

The search resulted in the discovery of a jar containing a total of 20 grams of narcotic substances, including hashish and marijuana, ready for retail sale.

The 36-year-old has been charged with drug possession with intent to sell. The island's municipalities will also propose that he be issued a mandatory expulsion order.

There were also checks on weapons. On the Forio pier, the Carabinieri identified a 26-year-old man found in possession of a switchblade. The young man was charged with illegal possession of a weapon.
