The block of hashish seized
Giugliano – Drugs labeled with symbols from the popular Naruto universe continue to appear in Naples and its province. Less than 24 hours after the first seizure by Carabinieri in the Capodimonte area, a new block of hashish with the same pattern was found in Giugliano, Campania, in the hamlet of Varcaturo.
The operation was conducted by officers from the local station, who raided an apartment in the Paradise Residence on Via Madonna del Pantano. The operation was swift and did not give those present time to dispose of the drugs or other compromising material.
A couple lived in the home: a 28-year-old man, already known to law enforcement; a 33-year-old woman with no criminal record. Both are Italian.
The search seized 12 doses of cocaine, 11 rounds of .38 Special ammunition, and a 7,65 caliber bullet. But the item that most attracted investigators' attention was the discovery of a 50-gram block of hashish, hidden inside the washing machine.
The drug was branded "Akatsuki Hash," a clear reference to the fictional criminal organization Akatsuki, the protagonist of the popular manga and anime series Naruto. The couple was arrested, while investigations continue to reconstruct the drug's provenance and identify other distribution channels.
The new seizure takes on particular investigative significance because it comes just hours after the one carried out in Capodimonte, where a block of dough with similar characteristics was found.
The repetition of the same brand suggests that it is the same batch of hashish or, in any case, a common supply channel that is supplying various drug dealing hubs in the Naples metropolitan area.
Investigators are investigating whether a single organization capable of distributing the drugs between the capital and the northern part of the province is behind these seizures.
In recent years, the drug market has changed dramatically. It's no longer uncommon to come across blocks of hashish customized with logos, trademarks, and images of cartoons, luxury brands, sports teams, or celebrities. This criminal marketing strategy serves to make the product recognizable, build customer loyalty, and distinguish one batch from another.
The double seizure of "Akatsuki" blocks in less than 24 hours is a significant sign. While the current investigation does not allow us to definitively establish the existence of a single distribution network, the presence of the same brand in two different areas of the province suggests that the same batch of hashish may be circulating between Naples, Giugliano, and the entire northern part of the province.
This phenomenon confirms the increasingly organized and widespread nature of drug trafficking, with distribution channels capable of rapidly reaching multiple drug dealing hubs. Further investigations will clarify whether the two seizures are actually connected and which criminal organization is managing the distribution of this "designer" hashish.
