Piazza Garibaldi sealed off during the peak traffic: three arrests

Strict security controls are in place in the Piazza Garibaldi area and inside Naples Central Station. This is where a significant portion of the flow of travelers heading to the city and Campania's tourist destinations is concentrated, with influxes reaching particularly high levels during the summer months.

Precisely in this context, officers from the Campania Railway Police Department have intensified prevention and control activities as part of the "Safe Stations" plan, resulting in the arrest of three people in recent days.

This surveillance activity takes on even greater importance during a time of year marked by the massive presence of tourists, commuters, and travelers, often with luggage and money in tow and therefore potential targets of predatory crime.

Arrested for drug dealing: hashish and money

The first arrest was made against a person accused of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

During a check, officers found the individual in possession of several doses of hashish and a substantial sum of cash. Investigators believe the cash was linked to drug dealing. Consequently, the suspect was arrested and subsequently transferred to the judicial authorities.

He attacks the agents at the ticket offices

The second incident occurred near the ticket offices at the Central Station.
During a check, a man allegedly reacted violently towards Railway Police officers, attacking them with kicks and elbows.

Officers managed to subdue him after the struggle. The man was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, assault, and assaulting a public official.

An episode that confirms the delicate nature of the work of the operators who daily monitor one of the city's busiest areas.

He steals a cell phone, which is blocked by the Army soldiers.

The third arrest was made following the intervention of Italian Army soldiers engaged in security duty in Piazza Garibaldi.

The officers had arrested a man believed to be responsible for the theft of a cell phone from a citizen. State Police officers intervened to assist them and made the arrest.

The phone was recovered and later returned to its rightful owner.
