Shock in Portici: Elderly woman and granddaughter found dead in their home
The deaths of two people found dead inside an apartment on Viale Divina Provvidenza, in Portici, are shrouded in mystery. The victims are an 82-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, who, according to initial information gathered by investigators, is the woman's nephew.
The alarm was raised on Friday when, for reasons still under investigation, emergency services were called. Once they entered the home, paramedics could only confirm the death of both men.
Initial findings suggest that the two had been dead for several days before they were found. This detail represents one of the first steps in the investigation and could help investigators accurately reconstruct the sequence of events.
The presence of the bodies in the home for such a prolonged period raises numerous questions: when did they die? Who last saw them? And most importantly, what happened inside the apartment?
The Carabinieri intervened on the scene and immediately began their investigations, along with the 118 paramedics and the specialists in charge of the surveys.
Investigators are examining every possible element to understand the circumstances of the incident. No hypotheses have been ruled out at this time: they range from the possibility of death from natural causes or accidental poisoning, to other possibilities that can only be confirmed or ruled out by forensic examinations and technical tests.
The post-mortem examination and, most likely, the autopsy ordered by the judicial authorities, which will have to establish the cause and time of death, will be crucial.
The news quickly spread throughout the neighborhood, where the presence of numerous emergency vehicles and law enforcement officers attracted the attention of residents. The community is awaiting the outcome of the investigation, while investigators are maintaining the utmost secrecy regarding the incident.
For now, the only certainty is the discovery of the two bodies inside the home. Everything else is still under investigation.
