Ischia and Procida, an agreement has been reached regarding trucks: two night ferries from Naples for supplies.

Naples — An agreement has been reached to unblock the loading of heavy vehicles bound for Ischia and Procida, although the alert remains high. At the end of a meeting held at the Prefecture in Naples, Campania Regional President Roberto Fico announced the development of an emergency operational plan, specifying that "the discussion will remain open."

The temporary solution involves two high-capacity ferries departing from the Porta di Massa pier in Naples in the middle of the night. The earlier departure times will allow vehicles to reach the islands in time to ensure the distribution of goods and essential supplies. At the same time, a high-speed vessel previously used for passenger transport will be converted into a commercial vessel.

The crisis was triggered by an order issued by the Municipality of Pozzuoli, which prohibited trucks exceeding 3,5 tons from transiting the port access routes. This measure was necessary for safety reasons related to the presence of two unsafe buildings, damaged during the earthquake of July 31st. Boarding from Pozzuoli remains open only to light vehicles.

The blockade immediately sparked a harsh reaction from haulage associations and grave concern from the mayors of the two Phlegraean islands over the risk of isolation and paralysis of supplies.

The plan, developed by the technical committee led by the Port Authority and agreed upon by the Rescue Coordination Center, will be implemented immediately. "We will monitor the effectiveness of the measures in the coming days," Governor Fico assured.
