Naples, 30 cleanups in one week: from Mergellina to Bagnoli

Naples – Over the past week, approximately thirty urban cleanup projects have been carried out in various areas of the city, prioritizing the busiest spots and areas with critical cleanliness and livability issues.

The operations are part of the activities planned by the Permanent Technical Committee for Urban Decorum in Naples. They involved the coordinated efforts of the city's departments, municipal authorities, and participating companies, with the involvement, as needed, of Asia Napoli, Napoli Servizi, the Social Services Department, and the local police, as well as the support of the Local Health Authority (ASL).

Among the affected areas is the Fontana del Marinaretto, in the Mergellina chalet district: two cleanups of the flowerbeds and surrounding area were carried out, removing waste, mattresses, and household items left behind by homeless people. A similar operation involved the areas around the Aragonese Towers, including the cleaning of the Fontana della Marinella and Piazza del Carmine.

In Piazza Garibaldi, a considerable amount of waste accumulated around the trees was removed. In the historic center, particularly on Via Duomo and near the Duomo porticoes, four cleaning and sanitization operations were carried out to restore the decor and usability of public spaces.

In addition to weekly activities, targeted interventions were carried out for specific situations. On Via Agnano agli Astroni, the area currently cordoned off after a landslide, which had become a repository for waste and dead foliage, was cleaned up. Further operations involved Via Nicola Stigliola, Piazza Bisignano, Piazza Dante, Via Cesare Rosaroll, and Piazza De Iorio. In Bagnoli, the area around Piazza a Mare was cleaned up in a joint effort by the Sea Protection Department and Asia.

The scheduled operations will continue throughout this week.
