Naples and Campania weather today, August 14: intense heat continues

The African anticyclone continues to affect Campania, but is showing the first signs of weakening. After a long period of exceptionally high temperatures and days marked with a red flag for heat-related risks, today, Friday, August 14, marks the beginning of a gradual easing of the heat wave.

In Naples, the sky will be mostly clear or partly cloudy throughout the day. Temperatures remain high, with lows around 26 degrees Celsius and highs between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius, but conditions are slightly more bearable than in previous days thanks to a slight decrease in the heat. Winds will blow lightly to moderately from the west, while the sea will remain calm.

High temperatures even inland

The heat continues to be felt especially in the inland areas of Campania, where temperatures could reach 37 to 38 degrees Celsius during the central hours of the day. Along the coast, however, sea breezes will contribute to a slightly more pleasant climate, despite high humidity.

The provinces of Caserta, Benevento, and Avellino will be those most affected by the highest temperatures, while the Naples and Salerno coasts will experience windier weather.

Yellow dot pending improvement

The Ministry of Health is maintaining a yellow alert for Naples today, a warning level that indicates weather conditions that are still potentially risky for the most vulnerable, but are significantly less critical than in recent days.

The good news is for mid-August: according to the latest weather forecasts, temperatures are expected to drop further and the return of the green warning, with highs around 33-34 degrees and more favorable weather conditions for spending the day at the beach or outdoors.

The recommendations

Despite the slight improvement, experts urge people to remain vigilant during the hottest hours of the day, avoiding direct sun exposure between 11 am and 17 pm, drinking plenty of water, and paying particular attention to the elderly, children, and people with chronic diseases.

The long heat wave that characterized the first half of August therefore seems to be coming to an end, giving Campania a Ferragosto holiday with a climate that is still summery but decidedly more livable.
