America's Cup in Naples: here are the platforms on the seafront

The countdown to the America's Cup preliminary regattas is in full swing. Work has officially begun on the Via Caracciolo reef, between the Rotonda Diaz and the Colonna Spezzata, to assemble four large temporary platforms. The project, authorized by the Superintendency and managed by Sport e Salute on behalf of the Government, involves installing deck planks on a tubular structure well anchored to the rocks.

The platforms will cover approximately 1.000 square meters and have a total capacity of 150 people: three for the public and one for officials. At the center of the complex, a pontoon will lead to a floating structure for the docking and docking of AC40 vessels. Construction is proceeding at a rapid pace, with approximately 100 workers at work, a number expected to double in the coming days, in parallel with the extraordinary cleanup of the reef and Mappatella Beach. At the end of the event, the structures will be completely removed.

Mattarella's call and the push for culture

The words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, also gave special significance to the Neapolitan event. During his recent visit to the Filangieri Museum, in front of Ruiz's canvas, the Head of State called the event an "America's Cup ante litteram," highlighting the city's strong historical connection to the sea and sailing. After the interlude of the great volleyball tournament in Piazza del Plebiscito, expectations are growing for Mattarella's possible presence at the 2027 regattas, perhaps from the privileged vantage point of Villa Rosebery.

Not just regattas: four days of shows, music and a free-access Village

The racing program promises to be a busy one. After the opening ceremony on the afternoon of September 24th, the official start will take place on Friday the 25th and Saturday the 26th with three fleet races per day starting at 14:00 PM. The final two fleet races will take place on Sunday, September 27th, deciding the two finalist boats ready to face off in the final knockout duel.

Alongside the challenges at sea, Via Caracciolo will host a free-to-entertainment Village, promoted in conjunction with European Sports Week. The highlight for fans will be the Dock Out Show: a ceremony where the crews will take to the main stage to music and official presentations before setting sail. Upon their return, the Dock In Show will allow spectators to listen to the sailors' analysis, receive merchandise, and experience the competition atmosphere until the evening.
