Castellammare, the nightmare of the landslide: the tunnel reopened, but 56 families remain in suspense.

Castellammare – Emergency management and rescue mobilization. Clearing and securing operations began immediately overnight, coordinated by the Municipal Operations Center along with the Naples Prefecture, the regional Civil Protection Department, the Fire Department, law enforcement, and the Municipal Police.

Thanks to their tireless work, rescue teams managed to clear the impassable roads, allowing residents trapped at home to breathe a sigh of relief and averting, at least for the moment, the evacuation order for the approximately fifty families affected.

Roads have been restored but the hill remains under observation.

The main priority interventions involved the strategic road system of State Road 145 and the Pozzano tunnel, a key junction towards the Sorrento peninsula, which reopened yesterday. Meanwhile, ANAS has restored the bypass of the old tunnel between Scrajo and Vico Equense.

With the support of drones and firefighter equipment, experts from the River Basin Authority and Civil Protection have begun aerial surveys to map the critical points of the landslide and identify the causes of the mudslide.

The issue of displaced people and the economic wound of Via Acton

Despite the immediate danger having been averted, the situation remains critical: in the event of new weather warnings, the fifty families at risk could be forced to leave their homes, as assessed by government commissioner Dario Caputo. Severe disruption is also affecting Via Acton, the main road to the beaches, where the fury of the storm has devastated the outdoor area of ​​a restaurant-pizzeria and completely paralyzed traffic due to a pile of mud and debris.
