Ponticelli: Illegal housing in the entrance halls of Incis buildings: seizures begin

Naples – Two illegal dwellings constructed in the entrance halls of buildings in the Incis district of Ponticelli were seized by the Naples Municipal Police following an inspection by the Green and Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli. The buildings were encroaching on common areas of the public housing buildings.

A reoccupation after the seals

One of the two homes had already been seized. According to documents, the occupant re-entered the property, violating the order and continuing to use it. This precedent, for Borrelli, takes on symbolic significance: "If the state seizes these places and then someone breaks the seals to return to live there as if nothing had happened, it sends a devastating message."

A new construction in the entrance hall

The second residence, however, is a recent construction. During the inspection, signs of newly completed masonry and the presence of the occupants were still visible. In this case, according to the MP, the occupation went beyond simple squatting: a dwelling was constructed by appropriating a common space in the building.

"We're facing an open challenge to the institutions. In one case, a seizure order is violated, in the other, a new house is built. This is intolerable. We must identify those responsible, clear the spaces, and demolish the illegal structures," Borrelli declared, calling for immediate demolitions.

Checks also on the requirements of the assignees

During his visit, the MP also encountered a resident of a public housing complex parking a practically new BMW X2. "A high-end car doesn't automatically indicate any irregularity," he clarified. "But in a public housing complex, where rents can be just a few dozen euros, it's essential to verify that all tenants meet the required requirements."

Borrelli announced that he will ask the City Council to verify the woman's income and assets, as well as the ownership of the housing assignment. "Social housing must be allocated to those who truly deserve it," he concluded.
