Casertavecchia celebrates 30 years of Taranterrae, with popular roots and screenings at the Borgo.

Casertavecchia awakens with a festive evening dedicated to the roots of folk music. Tonight, at 8:30 PM, the Teatro al Borgo, opposite the Chapel of San Rocco, hosts Taranterrae with a show entitled Il soffio della Tradizione, 30 anni in festa (The Breath of Tradition, 30 Years in Celebration), a musical journey through thirty years of research and interpretation of the heritage of the Terra di Lavoro. The event is the heart of the sixth day of the 54th edition of Settembre al Borgo, directed by Massimiliano Gallo.

Taranterrae was formed in 1996 among the stones of Casertavecchia and represent one of the most deeply rooted expressions of Southern Italian folk music. The project began with the aim of recovering repertoires of ritual songs, tammurriate, and villanelle, through ethnomusicological research conducted among farmers and musicians. The group designs its concerts as a collective celebration, thanks to tammorre, accordions, battenti guitars, and polyphonic vocals. Their thirtieth anniversary has been heralded as a journey through sounds passed down from generation to generation, living works to listen to and dance to.

Among the milestones in the group's history is the 2008 album, "'O primme figlio," which combined concerts with workshops and music education initiatives. The thirtieth anniversary thus becomes a celebration of their roots and a passing of the baton towards the future.

The day also celebrates yesterday's concert, with Enzo Gragnaniello performing "Veleno, Mare e Ammore," accompanied by a quartet of musicians including mandolin, cello, and percussion. The performance was greatly appreciated by the audience, who responded enthusiastically.

The day's events continue in the village with a rich program of events. Throughout the village, you can admire Caserta on display, between Piazza Vescovado and the Cathedral Gardens, and Marialaura Balestra's "The Seven Sisters" in the Church of the Annunciation. At 16:00 PM, the photo tour "Fabulous Shots," led by photographer Pasquale Cerreto, begins, while at 18:30 PM, a historical parade is scheduled, followed by the theatrical performance "Syffridina." At 19:00 PM, in Piazza Vescovado, Aperitivo al Borgo will feature live music and a DJ set.

Tomorrow, Sunday, September 27th, at 20:30 PM, the Teatro al Borgo will host a screening of the film Il bene comune, written, directed by, and starring Rocco Papaleo. The story follows four inmates, guided by Biagio, on a journey of sharing and transformation in the Pollino National Park, accompanied by actresses Claudia Pandolfi, Teresa Saponangelo, and Vanessa Scalera.

Sunday's program continues with the continuation of Caserta in Mostra and The Seven Sisters. Activities include the Fabulae Tifatinae trek in the Tifatini mountains at 08:00 a.m., Fabulae a motore (motorized Fabulae) with Caserta Corse Evolution's classic cars at 10:30 a.m., and a traveling theater show, Stories and Legends of Casa Hirta, presented by La Mansarda Teatro dell'Orco, at 17:00 p.m. Finally, the Aperitivo al Borgo will continue at 19:00 p.m. with live music and a DJ set, before the evening screening.

For families, free babysitting is available from 19:00 PM until the end of the evening events, courtesy of the Winnie Land Play Center.
