A nursery in Ottaviano is on fire, with a tall column of smoke visible from nearby towns.

Fears erupted in Ottaviano after a large fire broke out inside a plant nursery on Via Funari. The flames sent a thick, high column of smoke visible from neighboring towns, drawing the attention of area residents.

The causes of the fire and the possible presence of people involved are currently being investigated.

The intervention of the firefighters

Two firefighting teams, supported by two fire engines, responded to the scene of the fire. Firefighters are busy extinguishing the blaze and securing the area, while maintaining high levels of vigilance regarding the spread of smoke.

The consistency of the fire made the plume of smoke particularly visible from a distance, even in neighboring municipalities.

The mayor's order

As a precautionary measure, the mayor of Ottaviano, Nando Federico, has issued an ordinance introducing some measures for the population.

Residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed to limit exposure to smoke and prevent potential air quality impacts. The administration also urges residents to limit outdoor exposure as much as possible until the situation has resolved.

Investigations in progress

Firefighters are continuing their efforts to fully contain the flames. The origin of the fire and the extent of the damage caused by the blaze inside the nursery remain unclear. Further assessments will be made once the extinguishing and safety measures have been completed.
