Marano di Napoli, waste management workers' strike meeting at the Prefecture: agreement possible between the municipality, the company, and unions.
In Naples, alarm has been raised over the strike announced by sanitation workers in the Municipality of Marano di Napoli. A roundtable discussion convened by Prefect Michele di Bari at the Prefecture's Government Building was held to address the reasons for the strike and explore possible solutions.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prefect Fabio Giombini, acting as the final institutional representative, Luca Di Monte, a representative of the Marano Ambiente company, and delegates from the trade unions FP CGIL, Fit CISL, and Fiadel.
The main points of discussion concerned the reasons for the strike: delays in paying wages and tickets to employees and a management of the service deemed inadequate. The company explained that the delays were related to a reorganization of the corporate structure and a change in management roles.
He added, however, that, at present, all wages have been paid and the transfers for the tickets have been initiated. The Municipality of Marano has assured its full commitment and cooperation to meet the necessary requirements, especially in light of a radical reorganization of the service and administrative procedures aimed at meeting the unions' demands.
The parties confirmed the strike, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow. The issue will be the subject of further in-depth meetings at the Prefecture to assess possible joint steps toward a resolution. Prefect Di Bari expressed his strong hope for an agreement between the parties, aimed at ensuring service continuity and worker protection.
