Vincenzo De Luca returns to the attack on the Campania Region, challenging its decision to allocate €8,3 million to a project aimed at the long-term unemployed in Naples.
In his usual social media post, the mayor of Salerno called the regional resolution "extremely worrying and serious," focusing his criticism on the decision to use its own resources after the Ministry of Labor withdrew funding.
According to De Luca, the Ministry found "deficiencies" in the project and, after the funding was revoked, announced that it no longer intended to allocate resources to the initiative.
"In a normal, civilized country," De Luca said, "after the ministry has verified the existence of irregularities and announced that it will no longer expel even a single euro, everything stops."
The former regional president then asked that the matter be brought to the attention of the investigative authorities: "This matter should also be submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Guardia di Finanza."
De Luca also raised doubts about the manner in which the resolution was approved, citing a "climate of opacity." In his remarks, he also reported that "Councilor Bonavitacola withdrew his signature on the resolution pending clarification."
The incident had already sparked protests in recent weeks from groups and movements of unemployed workers in Naples, following the withdrawal of the project and its ministerial funding.
De Luca concluded his speech with a direct attack on the regional situation: "In Campania, in Naples, one almost has the impression that legality is optional, not a duty."
