Endoscopic ear surgery at San Paolo: a live international workshop strengthens training and innovation.

Naples – The 18th International Workshop on Endoscopic Ear Live Surgery, an international event dedicated to endoscopic ear surgery, concluded at the San Paolo Hospital of the ASL Napoli 1 Centro.

The event, organized by the Otolaryngology Unit led by Giuseppe Panetti, attracted international participants and young specialists interested in otosurgery. For the first time, live sessions were held in two operating rooms, offering participants the opportunity to follow the procedure steps and interact directly with the operators.

This year's event welcomed ten guests from Austria, Georgia, Australia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Belgium, accompanied by young professionals and residents. Among the guests of honor were Livio Presutti, past world president of the IWGEES, and Marco Bonali, author of a manual on endoscopic ear dissection used internationally to train new generations of otolaryngologists.

The endoscopic technique, explained in the course, allows for visualization of hidden corners of the ear through a minimally invasive approach that passes through the ear canal, reducing surgical trauma. According to its proponents, the use of endoscopy, in selected cases, has improved the precision of otological surgeries and can shorten recovery times.

Professor Panetti is internationally recognized as an expert in the field, and his procedures, both endoscopic and microscopic, allow him to treat inflammatory and congenital ear diseases, with ossicular chain reconstructions and prosthetic implants to improve hearing function.
