Naples: The prefect announces increased security checks along Corso Umberto.

In Naples, in response to the reported predatory incidents in the area of ​​Corso Umberto I and Piazza Garibaldi, the authorities have launched a series of targeted actions to strengthen public safety.

Prefect Michele di Bari declared that, following a thorough examination by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, daily territorial control services have been established.

These interventions are aimed at identifying suspicious or dangerous individuals, combating degradation and petty crime, and combating illegal immigration. The Prefect also emphasized that the prevention efforts carried out in August have led to reports and arrests, demonstrating concrete results.

The extraordinary plan also aims to reduce the presence of bladed weapons and prevent youth gang activity, especially in areas with high tourist traffic and at transportation hubs. In addition to security measures, interventions are being implemented to improve road safety on Corso Umberto I.

The Provincial Observatory for Road Accidents, which meets regularly at the Prefecture, coordinates the installation of raised pedestrian crossings and the use of devices such as breathalyzers and drug testers to combat driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The City of Naples recently installed four raised crossings, with two more planned, to make the streets safer for all road users. The Prefect has guaranteed the continuity and regularity of the police presence in the coming weeks, with constant monitoring of key points throughout the city to protect public safety, the commercial fabric, and legality.
