Naples, nightlife under control in Coroglio: 4 licenses revoked and 3 drivers reported for alcohol.

Naples – Last night, the State Police conducted a targeted service in the Coroglio area as part of the "This Evening I'm Driving" project, promoted in collaboration with the ANIA Foundation, SILB FIPE, SIB FIPE, and Feder Balneari Italia. The initiative, part of a national summer campaign, aims to prevent road accidents and combat dangerous driving behavior by combining local checks with awareness-raising activities aimed at young people in the nightlife scene.

The numbers of the checks

Crews from the Naples Highway Police Section, along with the Sorrento and Nola units and the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, carried out checkpoints to verify whether drivers were intoxicated and suspected of having taken narcotics.

Over the course of the evening, 90 people were checked, including 40 drivers and their vehicles. A total of 18 traffic violations were reported, resulting in the revocation of four driving licenses and the deduction of 15 points.

Sanctions and complaints

Four drivers were reported: three for driving under the influence and one for drug use, pending the outcome of a Level II test. These operations are part of the State Police's strategy to ensure greater protection of road users through enforcement activities and interaction with young people, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of following the rules of the highway code.

Awareness raising in the premises

Alongside the checks, the staff involved in the service met with the young people at a Neapolitan nightlife venue in Coroglio, as part of the project's awareness-raising activities. Through discussions and a demonstration, participants were able to experience, using headsets that simulate a state of psychophysical alteration, the difficulties these conditions can cause while driving, by testing themselves on a specific road course.

The “designated driver”

During the meeting, the role of the "designated driver" was introduced, as a conscious and responsible choice within the group to ensure safe return at the end of the evening. Drivers who tested negative for alcohol or drugs were given free tickets as a reward for their virtuous behavior.

The national campaign

"Tonight I'll Drive" is a nationwide campaign that, during the months of August and September, will involve the entire country, bringing the message of safety to iconic Italian summer locations. The initiative stems from the Memorandum of Understanding signed on July 31st between the Department of Public Safety, the ANIA Foundation, the SILB FIPE, the SIB FIPE, and FederBalneari Italia.
