The Kurultai Festival in Bucharest

From September 21 to 27, 2026, the Romanian capital will host the KURULTAI International Festival, now in its 11th edition. Under the patronage of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, it is organized by the Tatar Democratic Union and supported by the Ministry of Culture. With the participation of 40 delegations from other countries, the event will feature a program combining cultural heritage, traditional sports competitions, arts, diplomacy, and even gastronomic traditions.

Program.

September 21-24. International tournaments and workshops dedicated to traditional sports and games.
September 24. Two major intercultural seminars with specialists working in the field of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage.

September 25. The International Conference "KURULTAI 2026, Living Traditions and Diplomatic Dialogue at the Heart of Global Heritage" will be attended by representatives of embassies, government institutions, academies, and international figures from the Turkic world.

September 25-27. Kurultai opens to the public with the official inauguration, a parade featuring the famous Ottoman Fanfare, artistic galas, equestrian shows in the Historic Arena, interactive activities, and culinary workshops.

The project aims to revitalize urban public spaces, facilitate access to culture, and pass on traditions to new generations. It is organized by the Tatar Democratic Union of President Naim Belgin.
