Walter Avallone and his car
Agropoli - The hunt is underway for the killer of Walter Avallone, the 55-year-old worker from Eboli, found dead this morning in Agropoli inside his car parked in the area opposite the Baia di Trentova beach. His body was on the driver's side and had a deep throat wound consistent with a gunshot wound.
The body was discovered by an off-duty Carabinieri officer who, while jogging in the area, noticed the man's presence in the car and raised the alarm.
Officers from the Agropoli Carabinieri station, the local company's Operations and Radiomobile Unit, and specialists from the Salerno Scientific Investigations Section responded to the scene, conducting technical surveys and gathering evidence useful for the investigation.
Based on initial evidence, investigators believe it may be a homicide. The investigation, coordinated by the Vallo della Lucania Public Prosecutor's Office, is ongoing to reconstruct the crime and identify who may have killed the 55-year-old.
At this time, the incident remains shrouded in mystery. Investigators are trying to determine when Avallone arrived in the parking lot, whether he was alone in his car, or whether someone was with him at the time of the attack.
Another possibility under consideration is that the worker had an appointment with a person who may have driven to the crime scene in another car, then left after killing him. These are currently investigative scenarios that will need to be confirmed through further investigation.
To reconstruct the victim's final movements, the Carabinieri are combing through video surveillance footage from the Trentova area. The footage could provide crucial information on vehicles that passed through the area and any people who may have been in contact with Avallone before his death.
At the same time, investigators are focusing on the man's private life and recent communications. They are examining telephone contacts, chats, and messages, searching for any possible encounters, disagreements, or elements that could clarify the context in which the crime unfolded.
Specialists are also examining the passenger compartment for biological traces, fingerprints or other evidence that could help identify who was in the car and reconstruct the stages of the attack.
At this time, insufficient evidence has emerged to clarify the motive for the murder or identify a possible perpetrator. The victim's clean criminal record represents a further element to be explored in reconstructing his living environment and social circle.
Investigations are continuing on multiple fronts, without excluding any leads. The goal is to reconstruct Walter Avallone's final hours, understand why he was in the parking lot in front of the Trentova Bay, and identify the perpetrator of a crime that, at least for now, remains unexplained.
